I am reading the entire Bible and some Christian non-fiction in 2017.

Becky over at Operation Actually Read Bible is hosting three challenges that fall in with my reading plans for 2017, so I have decided to sign-up for them. 



Cloud of Witnesses Challenge - Where we read works of Christians of the past. This list may grow.
  1. The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis
  2. Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis
  3. The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
  4. Paradise Lost by John Milton 

 Operation Deepen Faith 2017: Christian Non-Fiction - Where we read any kind of Christian non-fiction. I am sticking with books by Christians who are still alive, so as to distinguish this challenge from the previous one.

  1. Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi
  2. The Real Face of Atheism by Ravi Zacharias
  3. Chopped, Sprinkled and Ready to Serve: Spiritual Memoirs by Anita Lazarus 

 Operation Deepen Faith 2017: Wonderful Words of Life - Where we simply read the Bible setting our own pace and limit.

    Good to see you found a Bible reading challenge that fits your needs! I know mine is a bit heavy for most people. I'll keep an eye out for any posts you make. I wish I could participate in your Paradise Lost readalong, but I've got too many of my own challenges going this year. *heavy sigh* And Lord of the Rings! I read that last year.

      Thank you! This certainly gives me a lot of room while helping me stay focused. I only hope I follow through! I know what you mean...too many challenges can drain you so it's best not to commit to more than one can handle. However, if at any time you feel like popping in with comments please do so!:)

    This sounds cool! I get tempted to join so many challenges this time of year. Still trying to decide if I'm doing any more than just the LOTR read-along.

    I'll be joining, too. I'm also following the Legacy Reading Plan; it's flexible to me that way. I hope to interact with you in the future on thoughts of the Bible readings.     I was just making up my reading plans for next year, and I am reading The Cost of Discipleship, The Screwtape Letters, and Mere Christianity. I'll take a look at this challenge. Thanks.

    Oh, those sound like some good books. I've never read anything by Lewis outside his ficiton, but I really should do so one of these days. And I've never read any Zacharias, but I know my dad really likes him. I am planning on a read through of the Bible in 2017 (this time, I WILL get it read entirely in ONE calendar year!)--I'll be using a semi-chronilogical reading plan I used once before that I really like.

      I like Zacharias too... I tend to read him less though. I listen to his sermons often.

      Haha...I'm hoping to read it through finally too!.... currently, I'm thinking Sunday reading of the Bible only is a good way to go. :D

    Hi. I just found your blog through Carol's (Journey and Destination). These look like great reading challenges and I must look into them. I've already read Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus-great read! And I love anything Ravi Zacharias writes. I listen to him on the radio. I guess I need to hop over to Becky's blog.

    I've already read everything on the Clouds of Witnesses challenge.
